The YSL Trooper Platform Ankle Boot. I kind of like it, and the pricetag is enough to make me want to jump out of a plane!

The Trooper Patent Pump. You can do all your cadence drills in these, ladies!

The Army T-Strap Karung Sandal. Perfect for those Saturday nights at the base canteen!

Will any of my Esteemed Readers volunteer for this look?

Perhaps Goldy Hawn might like them. They are very Operation Petticoat or whatever that movie was.
Eeek! Those frighten me.
Oh. My. God. Why does YSL hate women so much?
Well, you won't slip on a hard surface and fall down in these, anyway.
I really like the first ones ;D
just a joke
whoa and no. i envision the runway covered in dirt wiwth small blasts of shrapnel for added effect. however, i could see these as being quite popular amongst the outdoorsy drag type.
I like Dr. Monkey's comment. Heh. Exactly how much crack are they smoking over there in Paree?
I've seen this sole before, back in the early 90s and maybe first on shoes spied in Denmark, at a music festival. Oh, those Europeans. This does not excuse it or argue in favor of "style," although its durability is certainly superior.
I would wear the top bootlet if it weren't cut off just below the detail. That design bothers me more than the sole; I am never sure if this short design contributes to the unfortunate phenomenon known as "pig hock," which seems to afflict those who have a bit of ham on their gams.
I'm not to sure about these. The platformish fronts kind of swayed my decision to the "not liking it so much" side. However, if you took off the chunk in the front... although i guess that would defeat the military purpose :P
This esteemed reader will be high-tailing it to Canada. Maybe K.Line will hide me in her closet.
I always get into trouble w/commando soles. Can you imagine the subway grit you'd be picking out of these? Although do YSL girls ride subways?
Love them, they are so fun. Althoug I am not so sure they are comfortable, and they better Be at that price!
They remind me of the time I was shopping for boots with my son, who was around 4, and I taught him to say, forcefully, "No lug soles!"
i think they're too trendy to warrant the high pricetag. i save the big bucks for more classic styles.
xo
No thank you.
But those tank inspired Balenciagas were a yes please.
Reporting for duty.
Visually they make me a bit uncertain, but do you think they enable you to run and climb obstacles in 4-5" heels?! If so, I'm in!
The boots look so fierce! I guess the platform will be comfy, but I am not sure my feet can feel the floor. Who care about comfy, if the shoes rock?
Truly, I hate these. The soles remind me of--was it Manolo's--take on Greb Kodiak construction boots a couple of years back. I think that JLo wore a pair. A.w.f.u.l.
i am struggling btw loving and hating it. i will like it more without the pencil thin heels. can imagine myself breaking my neck on a fall. i usually believe ysl can't do wrong.
thanks for all of your comments on my blog ! u'r too kind and adorable ! im lovin your posts too !!!
I will most certainly hide you in my closet, Sal.
I actually think I might give these a try if they didn't cost a grand. There's something "big" about them that appeals...
These appear to me to be some sort of unfortunate mistake. And not one I feel inclined to make.
Not sure how I feel about these shoes. They'd probably look stunning on some girls, but not on me.
Um. No. No. UGLY.
PS - Thank you for your gasp of respect today. Made me smile... and wander over to Kinkos tonight to check out your blog complete with images!!
You were quicker than me ;)
(And than blogger started crapp #&*%)
I was about to tell you that I gave you a “diamond”…
You’re very welcome dear, you deserve it (pity that it’s not a real one LOL)
I’m also glad to be part of this blog, and its history (at least I feel like that) and to have you as a friend.
I’m not liking this stuff, because of the bottom (don’t know how to call it)
Love darling.
Xoxox
(the “problem” with hubby is that it’s in mainland…)
idk, the soles really really scare me..
I like the ankle boot, but I'm afraid I'd probably trip and break myself just standing in those.
All ladies should learn how to walk - and not fall - in these.
love the ysl{and i kno the price tag is crazy~lol
La Bel: LOL! Welcome back! It's an immense pleasure to have you here with us today. The only Goldie Hawn thing I remember with an even vaguely military theme was "Private Benjamin," with the condos.
Clothes Horse: Sorry to scare you!
Dr. Monkey: Quelle question. I don't know what was going on when these were approved.
CDP: Probably not. And, you can get traction in inclement weather.
melmo: Good one!
Danielle: Excellent commentary, and even better visuals!
carolyn: Je ne sais pas. Maybe it's the Gauloises.
Suzanna Mars: Durability? Yes. Style? Jury's still out. I think, for the reason you cited, the bootlet is a dangerous choice.
Arielle: Yes, you're verbalizing all the same things I thought. These shoes don't seem to know what they want to be. They're strangely compelling, though, aren't they?
Sal: Well, you just announced your draft-dodging plans to the world, so now you'd better sneak off under cover of night, asap. I'm sure K.Line would welcome you, and then you can raid her fantastic, strawberry-dress-laden closet!
fashion herald: I'm pretty sure YSL girls are cab and limo girls. Maybe just limo girls.
Siljesfashion: I think you are well within your rights to demand comfort for those prices.
Sister Wolf: And I bet he still says it now, doesn't he? You trained him well.
Mademoiselle Frou-Frou: I wonder if they'll sell out despite the price tag? I can think of a few "celebs" already who might want these.
-h/candid cool: I'm with you: for the last several seasons, Balenciaga has been responsible for the most innovative shoes I've seen in years.
Iheart: Now that we've got your footwear doled out, let's get you into your j-suit. You are now a corporal in the OM Army.
AsianCajuns: I think you can do a complete obstacle course in these!
Times: I doubt seriously if you'd be able to feel the floor, the platform looks too thick and rubbery.
miss cav: I remembered that awful boot, too, thinking of J.Lo. She's one of the "celebs" I picture going for these. Along with Beyoncé, and Christina Aguilera. Gosh, I hope I spelled those names right.
Savvy Mode SG: I'm right in the middle, with you.
MR style: You're welcome, I'm really enjoying your blog, it's very up front.
K.Line: I knew you'd hide Sal. Mind you don't let her scamper off with your fab things. If anybody could pull these off, it'd be you.
P T & E: I wonder how they came about. They seem so disconnected with the other things I've been seeing, and I haven't noticed any strong military trends for fall, so I'm at a loss.
pinup_girl: I'm with you, I think they're for another girl, not me.
Alice Olive: I can't believe you went to Kinko's to look at this blog. I bow down to your dedication. Thank you. :D
Seeker: You and I are part of each other's bloghistory. I'm so happy about that! I hope that you and hubby can decide what to do. Do you want to move?
Gloria: They're wacky, aren't they?
Nay'Chelle: I'm afraid of the same. But you'd do it with a lot more grace than I could muster, don't you think?
Dr Zibbs: These are the best training wheels I've ever seen for learning to walk in high heels. Now, if we could just keep our balance.
Jay: Crazy price tags never stopped anyone from loving anything! :D
they may well get listed in a coffee table book of Art of Shoes or History of Shoes.. something like that.
Probably only a famous designer like Ysl can come up with this kind of design and dare to put them on the market. ..(then those small ones could just copy later)I wouldn't put something like this through production if I were in a shoe business as I wouldn't wear them myself! :)
engaging and interesting post, enc as usual!
I have been thinking of doing next years Women's Mini Marathon in heels; now I know which ones. Hopefully a pair will turn up in a charity shop by then.
I smell a Patrick Cox Wannabe "interpretation*". Oh well, it has been 15 years. (*which is another way of saying Copy)
xx
Hahahahaha I love you.
Those are ca-raaaaaazy!
They remind me of those high-heeled tennis shoes that everyone was wearing in the mid-90s.
I would be afraid of falling -- despite the traction, I am awful on platforms . . .
xoxox,
CC
hahaha those shoes are amazing!
Im not sure if wear-able but in photos they look good, maybe we can go dinner to the base cantenn and you can wear the last ones
haha :)
fantastic and for sure must be really confortable!
a kiss!
and i am so sure they want us! hehhe
Songy: You're probably right, these shoes will be remembered years from now. I see these being copied ad infinitum, don't you?
Hammie: I would admire anyone who wore these in any kind of sporting event. I'm counting the minutes until these are knocked off. I bet Steve Madden will throw thier/his hat into the ring, in addition to Cox. Who will be first? Cox? Or Madden?
daddylikeyblog: I heart you too!
CoutureCarrie: I remember those high-heeled tennis shoes . . . they always come back.
Juaи +: They are amazing. I'd try them out if I could get my hands on them. Maybe I'll go look.
Kira: I find platforms to be very comfortable. I wonder how these feel.
Love. I've been after a pair of shoes like that for a while. Someone else was doing that kind of sole but it didn't fit me. YSL never fits me unfortunately so I will keep looking.
WendyB: I hope you find the shoe you want. I have confidence that you will, given that you're such a superb shoe shopper.
i just saw some kenneth cole new yorks for their fall collection that have that same sole, but its thinner, and they look pretty cool because its not exaggerated like the ysls.
the bottom shoe looks horrible and doesnt suit a sole like that.. it has lost its meaning.
but the top two are amazing..
i really want them.haha
thanks for the lovely post!
-h/candid cool: The KCs would probably be easier to walk in, wouldn't they?
Catherine: They're fascinating, aren't they?
