Blue Monday Wish

Maybe tomorrow's mail will include a stiff, cream-colored invitation asking me to some event suitable for this Empire-waist dress from Hamish Morrow.

It looks great! I love empire line!

Thanks a lot for your condolences and support.

Really lovely and versatile dress - hope that invite is on its way!!

Navy is so wonderful - it is nearly the new black at this rate!

WendyB said...

How did you know I was just about to send out those invitations?

So pretty. When will I get invited to an event where I actually have an excuse to get gussied up??

Jay said...

the dress is very pretty, and common was ok in the movie he hardley ever spoke but he looked good lol

I'm not sure which is worse, having a beautiful dress but nowhere to wear it, or being invited to a big event and having nothing to wear!

WendyB said...

Miss White, I truly believe that if you have the wardrobe, the invitations will come. If you're never getting anything good because you never expect to go anywhere good -- life will live down to your expectations.

The dress is too cute. I would wear it out clubbing for a friends birthday or something. Or... just wear it to the grocery store. HAHA.

Hey fashion gals; why don't you organise an event? Do it for charity and do it for the chance to wear something beautiful. Beautiful on the inside AND the outside....

Pamcasso said...

you simply have to create your own events and then more invites follow, I assume! I love buying dresses but never have a chance to wear them:(

atelier: I do too—I've always loved that look. (You're welcome.)

CoutureCarrie: I wish!

Make Do: Navy is so easy; it looks good on just about everyone.

WendyB: LOL!

Clothes Horse: I wonder the same thing—I was daydreaming about it today, when I was reading other people's tales of going to weddings.

Jay: Maybe they didn't give Common too many lines. Too bad!

Miss White: This is the most pressing question of our time! Perhaps Miss WendyB is right!

Secretista: The grocery store! WendyB, did you hear that?

Hammie: Ah, good idea. If only we lived in the same state!

Pamcasso: I should throw a party just to have an excuse for this dress.

I like it but I would never wear it. It really isn't my style!

I'll gladly send you an invite to whatever you want if it means you get to wear that dress. Hubba hubba.

wow! beautiful dress. I particularly dig the neanderthal length sleeves in that second picture. Good for holding cold champagne flutes.

It's gorgeous!

I really like it - where are you going to wear it??

Hi Enc, the dress is really elegant! I'm really drawn into midnight blue now! They are beautiful colour and still quite neutral. I saw a dress last week and I told myself similar thing - "if, only if someone gets married or any important event coming up, I'd buy it..." Still, I am waiting for it xx

i really enjoy how it converts. i don't lust after things i couldn't wear on any given day - that is, things that require an invitation. my dream items are always intended to outfit my reality. i'm stretching my imagination but nope, i could not really see wearing this on one of my typical days.

Hamish Morrow is such a delight...the e-commerce site tempted me a few times...

Oooh, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Love every detail on that delicious frock.

I love, love, love that dress and second Wendy B's wise words.

that's really a perfect, classic dress, and I'm a sucker for super long sleeves. this would be good for an evening winter wedding!

those dresses and satins are perfect!

a kiss!!

CDP said...

That is gorgeous. And I love the color, navy is such a nice alternative to black.

So pretty! I want one!

coco: I imagine you in something else, too! This is way too conservative for a girl like you. :D Perfect for a staid girl like me.

Dr. Monkey: Awww, thank you!

Marmalade: Between the long sleeves and the Empire waist, I'm in love with this thing. I have a black t-shirt with similarly ridiculously long sleeves, and I'm in love with it, too!

Psyche: Beautiful!

riz: It's a fantasy item, I haven't bought it. If I did have it, I'd love to wear it to a wedding.

Times: You'd look so beautiful in this dress. And it'd be easier for you to get than for me to get strictly because of your location. Maybe you need to buy a midnight blue dress to have in your wardrobe "just in case."

editor: Agreed, it isn't a "typical day" dress. I have four of those. I bet you have at least a dozen brilliant "typical day" dresses.

susie_bubble: There's lots of nice stuff on that site.

Sal: HM puts a lot into the details. The quality is nice.

AsianCajuns: WendyB's words were food for thought. I'm trying to think positive.

fashion herald: I love super-long sleeves, too. I need more of them in my life.

Kira: I agree, perfect! :D

CDP: Black can make more of a statement sometimes than we need it too, which is why I love this navy.

Sapphire: It's on sale, luckily. Go get one!

That dress is gorgeous. Such a lovely color.

Although, I'm a little concerned about what would happen if the wearer wasn't flat-chested. It looks like it could cause some scary squishage/spillage. Eek.

cuileann said...

Utterly gorgeous. So classy, too.

enc said...

Seeker: :D And a great color.

Anonymous: Thanks for commenting. Agreed, this is certainly not a dress for the amply-endowed girl, but then again, I may be attracted to it because that's never been an issue for me! ;)

cuileann: :D It's a beaut! Thanks for commenting.

I love the way it drapes from the bottom of the waist...very slick. Get it!

I think I love the extended sleeves the best. It reminds me of that high school trend of pulling your jumper down over your hands, which only the cool kids could ever pull off. Perhaps that is the vibe that this dress sends - cooler than you, in a much more sophisticated way.

enc said...

altamiranyc: I love that drape, too! I'm just dreaming, not shopping. Today, anyway!

Super Mama: I like your idea of the "cooler than you" look. I hope I could live up to a dress like this!

-h/candid cool: I've always loved navy!

Alice Olive said...

Oh, hello lover. These are both stunning. Fab-U-lous. Navy is very adult and elegant, almost a thinking woman's black.

These are all perfect and beautiful.

Alice Olive/miss cav: I knew I'd find blue dress fans in both of you. :D
