Madonna's New Look

When I was doing the URL link to Rolling Stone for today's Crocs post, I saw the image of Madonna—who's remade herself again—on the front page of their Web site.

I was a bit surprised at her appearance (click on the photo to enlarge—I recommend it.). She looks like a right old hardman! A HipHop Hardman, apparently, as RS states that she worked with Timbaland and Pharrell Williams in the making of the record.

Here's a link for the record review.

I'm not a fan of Madonna.
I just envy her good shape.

She frightens me a bit with this look, but a great body--always!

She's also on the cover of the latest Vanity Fair and Elle mags, I think we can expect to a see a lot more of her as she approaches her 50th birthday later this year. Co-incidently I just finished reading her biography by Andrew Morton, quite an interesting read. I want to do a post on her this week sometime. I'm not a huge fan of hers, although I did like her in the eighties, never enough to buy her records, but back then we we were all totally gaga over her fashion style. I have to say I admire her tenacity in her journey to fame, fame did not come easily to her and she fought tooth and nail to make it happen, at the same time I find there is something very hard and calculating, almost disturbing about her. Anyway, have a happy week :)

All that yoga etc, did her body good. I don't think this picture does her justice.

Honestly her arms are RIDICULOUS as i'm sure you've noticed...

And that new single w/ J. Timberlake is terrible in my opinion. what do you think??

Madonna. Just about everyone I talk to or even read says the same thing. "I'm not really into Madonna, but..."

I was watching Saturday Night Live this weekend and there was a perfect Madonna joke during Weekend Update with Amy Pohler and Jeff Myers. Here it is:
"In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine, Madonna criticized New York City saying 'it doesn't feel alive, crackling with the synergy it had in the 1980's' New York City replied 'right back atcha'".

There she is on the cover of VF trying to look how old? I don't mean to be mean, but if anyone disrespects New York? They gotta deal with me!

Thank you for your post enc!

i like some of her music. but her body is too muscular i think. its like a man's. And i think enough of trying too look a gazillion years younger!
I dont mind looking younger of course, i'd do that definitely if i was her age.. just that she's gone a little bit too far..

I am torn. Her body looks fabulous (not to mention superb at her age). And, she is exercising her artistic freedom. But, hmmm...

Her body looks amazing--but her face? Um, what happened? Is it just bad eye makeup or is it something more permanent?

Seeker: I don't think you have to like M to appreciate her fitness level. She's near 50, and could kick any of our butts!

Clothes Horse: Me too, I'm avoiding her from now on!

bronwyn: I haven't seen those books yet, but I'll be on the lookout. I agree, she'll be flogging herself all over the shop when she hits 50, and good for her. I hope you will do a post on M, because you're good with these things. I have all the same impressions about M that you do. She's a business woman, that's for sure.

Jill: I think M may lift weights, too, have you seen her delts?

Jen (MF): I appreciate the value of reinvention, and M is the queen, as you say. I lost count of how many Madonnas we've had.

riz: I noticed the arms, alright. I always look for that on women. I haven't heard the single yet. I'll be on the lookout for it.

dcr: M has her opinions, and is liable to irritate us all at some point. I don't agree with her about NYC, but then again, VF didn't consult me on that point!

Alya: M is a pretty profound example of defined musculature. It's a specific aesthetic, and not one embraced for women, as a general rule. She likes extremes, doesn't she?

Psyche: Think shock value. I'm torn too, but I think it's because of shock value.

La Belette Rouge: Has M had any work done on her face?

madonna has a fantastic body & all, but i wish she'd stop the whole flashing her chocha yoga stuff.

and she's definitely had some work done. i happened to see her at some award show while i was flipping thru channels. she had that boca raton, face on 2 different sides of her head thing going on. but i dont fault people for getting work done, id do it to if i had the money.

-h/candid cool: I think M is up against it now because she's solidly stood in middle age. She's doing okay, and I hope she doesn't lose her dignity trying to keep up with the girls half her age.
